Brief History

Global Revival Ministries (GRM) exists to glorify God by making Christ known, nurturing believers, and advancing God's kingdom through revival. Brief History of GRM

Global Revival Ministries (GRM) was birthed from a divine call received by Rev. Dr. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi while studying at the university. He received a vision in which the globe was engulfed in flames of revival—hence, the name "Global Revival Ministries (GRM)."

The ministry initially began in 1983 as a prayer fellowship known as the Global Revival Evangelistic Association (GREA). Meetings were held at the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.

In 1984, through the support of Mr. J. W. Ampiah-Kwofi (Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi's father, of blessed memory), the Rex Cinema Hall was secured as a more permanent meeting venue. This marked the transformation of the fellowship into a fully established church. Thus, GRM was officially founded as a church on October 5, 1984.

Sunday services and Friday all-night prayer meetings were held at Rex Cinema Hall.

Teaching services took place at the Legion Hall on Tuesdays.

Ministry Expansion

In 1991, GRM launched a local training initiative for aspiring pastors. This effort culminated in the establishment of the Global Revival Bible School, which has since graduated over 400 ministers serving in various churches worldwide.

In 1997, GRM relocated to the Baden Powell Memorial Hall, where it experienced significant numerical growth. The Friday all-night prayer meetings at this location became legendary, drawing thousands of worshippers and inspiring a generation of charismatic leaders in Ghana.

Global Evangelism

In 1998, GRM relaunched its evangelistic arm as the Ampiah-Kwofi World Outreach (AKWO), dedicated to reaching the lost with the Gospel of Christ. AKWO has since conducted crusades throughout all regions of Ghana, across Africa, and in other parts of the world.

Present Day

On January 3, 2015, GRM inaugurated its current headquarters—Revival City, a 5,000-seater auditorium located in Haatso, Accra.

Today, GRM has grown to include over 50 branches and affiliates in Ghana and internationally, including countries such as Togo, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
