Missionary Charles Okoro Okorie
Head Pastor, GRM UK
"When you take ‘Christ’ out of ‘Charles,’ nothing worthwhile is left."
This statement from Missionary Charles Okoro Okorie encapsulates the foundation of his life and ministry—a deep, unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ.

A Journey Rooted in Faith
From an early age, Missionary Charles Okoro Okorie was immersed in the Christian faith. Born into a Presbyterian home, he was gifted his first Bible at age five and grew up attending church regularly and participating in daily family devotions. His early exposure to a wide variety of Christian denominations brought both spiritual diversity and doctrinal challenges. Unbeknownst to him, these experiences were preparing him for a lifelong calling as an ecumenical ambassador and a unifier within the body of Christ.
By age seven, Charles was already preaching in church, and by age seventeen, he was delivering sermons during youth celebrations. While his mum taught him to pray and fast as a five-year-old child, his father, though more religiously scholarly than devout, equally instilled in him a reverence for spiritual discipline, encouraging him to join Christian fellowships and stay rooted in the Word. This led Charles to join the Scripture Union (SU) during high school, where he gave his life to Christ at age fifteen and received the Holy Ghost baptism in a remarkable encounter. His spiritual leadership quickly blossomed, rising through the ranks from organizer to President of the Union.
A Call to Interdenominational Unity
His ministry took on a broader dimension during his university years. While studying at Ho Technical University, he became actively involved in the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES), serving as Deputy Prayer Secretary and later as Fellowship President. GHAFES fostered interdenominational worship and outreach, including missions to remote villages, prison ministry, campus crusades, and leadership workshops. His leadership culminated in organizing the landmark “All Christians Week Celebration”—a unified, campus-wide spiritual movement where Christians from all denominations came together for worship, prayer, evangelism, and service.
Later, Charles served as Chairman of the Council of Campus Ministries Presidents, where he facilitated interreligious dialogue and strengthened unity among various faith-based student groups.
